Welcome to the land of Volene (Vol-een), located just several hundred miles northwest of Kanto and Johto! A new and exciting land awaits new trainers who are going forth in life to become trainers, co-ordinators and even those who are starting a brand new journey in this land. Here's a quick map for you with some notes that I've made.

Bio: Being the son of a former gym leader who specialized in 'exotic' pokemon, Soul from a young age has been exposed to many different pokemon and has seen many battles over the course of his life. When he was younger, he was attacked by a flock of wild pidgeys fleeing from spearow. His father managed to fight off the pidgey and even caught one for him. Though this pidgey has been kept mostly as a pet, not as a trainer's pokemon. While Soul himself has battle-experience under his belt mostly using the gym's pokemon, he never went out on a journey of his own.

Finally, one day he decided to use the pidgey that had been caught so long ago to go on his own journey. His goal, to become a member of the elite four in some far away region where his father's name never reached.

Goal: Become a member of the elite four specializing in 'flying and bird pokemon'.

Oh boy, thanks So-ri! I forgot to add in my top post that the pocket monster you do choose has to be its base form. For those of you who might not know what that means, it means it has to be at its lowest evolution..so no Highest/Mid-levels of Evolution. So no picking Golems, Raichus, Gengars, Haunters, Gallades and the like. For an extensive list of pokemon visit http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-dp/ and for attacks visit http://www.serebii.net/attackdex-dp/ . The first link should let you find the pokemon you want and let you know what moves it can learn and at what levels. Since I'll be basing this kind of on the games and anime, I'll allow some Pokemon to know moves that they naturally learn at higher levels, evidence of this is early in the DP anime series where the character Paul uses his pokedex to go find a Starly that already has Aerial Ace learned.

So..yeah, have at it. Just dont give them abilities and stuff they cant have in game. I'll just have to read your bios and stuff and let you know on a Poké by Poké basis.

Bio: Having grown up alongside pokemon, as his parents were both semi-renowned Contest Coordinators, Lander had a two-sided approach to learning about the creatures. He has assisted in a local Pokecentre for the past 4 years, learning about various pokemon physiology while developing an acute interest in the various species of pokemon, while still caring for his parents' pokemon at home when they went off to specialty Contests.

One day, a trainer dropped off a Skitty they had found injured, but wasn't their own, to be treated. The creature had been horribly burned by electricity, and was nearing death's doors when it refused to eat or allow an IV for nutrients. Lander stayed up all night with the creature, attempting to get it to eat something, until it finally did so come morning. The Skitty made a swift recovery after that, and has all-but been Lander's personal pet at the Pokecentre ever since. When Lander decided to travel the world, helping injured pokemon the nurse suggested he take the Skitty along with him, to help in his adventure.

Goal: Become a world renowned pokemon doctor, capable of healing any and all pokemon ailments.

Movesets are like in the Anime..whatever you want, just so long as they can learn it normally by TM or breeding or leveling. Ash's Pikachu has used Volt Tackle, Quick Attack, Thundershock, Thunderbolt, Iron Tail... I dont even know what other moves its used, but then again Im not sure if the show follows the 4 move game-logic since all Ash ever has Pikachu do now is multiple Thunderbolts followed by the trusty Iron Tail -shrugs-

Ya know what? Fuck it, 4-move limit is gone.

Im drawing out the map now..and no this wont take place primarily in Johto... Though those regions (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh) will be available at later times..or as I see fitting of the story and what not. :D

Also the battle will be slightly different..kind of more like real time. There arent going to be dice things really since I dont want to bog people down with that..so handle it with some nice easy flowing RPing. So the battles will be kind of like the show (I've always wanted to use Iron Tail to smack away a foes Rock Slide)

Getting cash for items will be easy enough, it'll be handed out after trainer battles that come up that are handled by me (they wont be too difficult since this just pretty much is a freeform RP for fun and what not.) Just like in the games and stuff too, you will be able to find items laying about, which will be GM'd by me, but it'll be pretty easy. New Poke's will pop up in GM related posts when we come to new area's or in the middle of travelling to the new city.

For everyone who is registered, feel free to post your arrival or whatever in Little Ray! You'll meet this regions professor soon enough.

P.S. Dont think that we're in the same time as the anime/game series either..Hopefully you'll all like it

Bio: After going through the league in Johto in his late teens, Tyson decided to focus on breeding Pokemon, joining the family business of becoming successful breeders. His family had become known throughout the parts of Johto, and even extending into Kanto as one of the top 10 breeder organizations for trainers looking to better their team through breeding and passing on traits from beloved team members.

This went on from age 17 to 20, and on the start of his 21st birthday, Tyson decided to leave home and head to Volene to start a new journey, with a new team..and hopefully discover some new pokemon along the way in the warm, almost-summer-all-the-time land of Volene. He starts by entering Little Ray waiting for the regions Pokemon professor to send off a new batch of trainers, which according to the JourneyStarter webpage, occurs in Volene once every six months.

Tyson walked through Little Ray, taking in its cheery cozy look. Houses were situated so that everyone would more than likely know every one of their neighbors. He smiled a bit, watching some children come running out of a home, one with a black headband on while the other had on a sherrifs hat.

"Stop in the name of the law!" the one with the hat said as he chased the other boy to the backyard. The little town of Little Ray was home to perhaps 300 or so people, making it not large but not exactly a walkthrough city either. Many starting trainers came here from other regions, or even from other cities within the very same region just to become equalized as a trainer. He passed by a tv store, looking to see what was on tv today. After watching a rematch from last years surprise battle where a trainers Nidorino totally trashed on another trainers Gengar, a quick reminder flashed from the news station that today was the day that the Professor was giving new trainers their Pokedex's and materials to start journey, fully registering as trainers.

"Yeah..if that trainer was serious, that Nidorino would have in no way won against that Gengar..Thats the fun in battling I suppose..learning new things and discovering new abilities and moves Pokemon can learn. Especially when breeding is involved.." Tyson took out his pokeball, still in its travel-state and smiled. He had just hatched a brand new Gastly, bred from his fathers Gengar. Tyson's father asked if he wanted any strong moves on the new baby Gastly, and Tyson opted instead to work on learning and growing with the Pokemon himself.

"2pm huh? Well its 1:30pm right now..I guess another half hour is all it'll be until the journey in Volene starts..I wonder if I'll meet any new people to travel with like I did in Johto so long ago..I hope so anyways. I cant imagine that travelling alone is exciting." he said, crossing his arms and then looking across the street at the large Pokemon research facility that was more than likely Little Ray's main attraction.

"Excuse me sir? Who's the professor in this region?" Tyson asked a woman who exited the television store.

"Oh, well usually its Professor Palm...but a new one just recently moved in two weeks ago. I forget his name, but its something I've heard before I think. It should be something fairly common..Gosh, I really cant remember.." the lady said, nibbling on her index finger as she thought.

"Oh..a new Professor huh? Well..what do you know of this new Professor? Also..whats Professor Palm like?" he asked, wanting to know about the leading authority of Volene.

"Well! The new Professor, although I cant remember his name, is certainly a looker. He's quite young too! He's only in his early 40's! Aside from that, there isnt much we know, but he certainly is the gossip around town with some of the ladies" Tyson nodded, rolling his eyes at this woman who was obviously in love with whoever this new guy was. 'Get to Palm damnit!' he wished he could say out loud. "But, Professor Palm is, oh, possibly in his mid to late sixties. He's probably retiring from actively being a researcher and looking to settle down and take things a bit easier, but he's a nice man. Very caring and loving of all Pokemon and judging by my husbands old photo of Professor Palm and he twenty years ago...Professor Palm was quite the looker too!" the woman giggled.

Tyson nodded and thanked the woman, making his way towards the Pokemon lab, where Professor Palm and perhaps the new professor who was taking his place would be.

It was just about one o' clock, just after lunch and Soul thought that it would be a good idea to get some training in against the local wild-life before meeting the region's pokemon prof. at his laboratory. Unfortunately, the teenager had been stopped at the entrance to town, the security guard in charge of the gate said, "It's unsafe for anyone to go out without a pokemon of their own lest they be attacked by a pokemon out in the wild."

Soul, having his own pokemon (Pid) protested this and showed the guard the pokemon by taking it out of the premier ball in order to prove to the guard that he was battle-capable. Unfortunately, all this seemed to do was entice the guard to say that a young man with his first pokemon should make his way to the pokemon laboratory to get a pokedex before going into the wild.

Somewhat vexed by this outcome, the blond haired teen returned the pidgey to it's ball and converting it back to travel-size, put the sphere back into his pocket. "I guess there's really no choice then. Off to the lab I go." He muttered softly, he didn't want to yet but it seemed that there would be no way out of town until he had his pokedex. To be honest, it was like a video-game. It was probably all for the better, if he lost track of time while out in the wild, he would miss his chance to meet with the pokemon prof.

How are we going to do Levels and Exp in this RP? To know when all pokemon are leveling up and the exp gained from fights would be weird to keep track of.

Also, the descriptions are self-imposed restrictions. For example, Pid will learn Mud-Slap after doing sand-attack 3 times in RP. You said we can have any bred/tutored moves we wanted since Pikachu learned Volt-Tackle and Iron Tail in the show. In the same way, all those descriptions are the self-imposed accomplishments Pid will need to learn those new moves..

The new Professor to the Volene region was still in the process of moving all his home items into the space of the Pokemon facility that was designated to be his. Part of being a professor meant that living outside of the lab was optional, but living on the research compound was necessary. The option to live nearby in a home or apartment was totally for the people who preferred their own privacy and didnt want to be within a jogs distance of an assistant. Either way, he didnt care because he absolutely loved this job.

"Hey Blastoise, Machamp..could you bring these boxes over here? Remember to be careful with them too!" the man said to his Pokemon.

"Haha, still moving in eh lad?" Professor Palm said to the man who would take over his position officially in just a short time.

"Yeah Professor Palm. Im really excited to meet the new trainers who are coming to start a journey today. How much longer is it?"

The elderly man pulled back his sleeve, and then chuckled. "Oh it is nearly time lad! 1:50pm, ten more minutes and our gates are officially open. Then it will be announced that you are taking over for me until you retire eh?" the cheery older man responded.

The younger man nodded, grabbing another boxed labeled 'photos' and bringing it into his designated living area. "Of course Professor Palm. I remember when I started my journey...I cant believe it was only thirty three years ago..The time sure has passed." Professor Palm nodded, recalling his own quest a number of decades ago.

Tyson checked his watch one more time, and decided it was time to go stand in front of the gate. He really didnt want to be late for the opening ceremony just because he didnt get in on time. Usually there was no issue with arriving a little late to the opening ceremony, but that was back in Johto..Volene was a new place, so he'd have to play by their rules.

"Just ten more minutes now..Are you ready Gastly?" the trainer held out his travel size pokeball, smirking as he clenched it in his fist. "Ten more minutes...Could this go any slower?"

OOC: Okay Ryoku lol. Just make a new reply instead of editing when you do =3 Good night pal! Cant wait to see if there's more additions to the RP tomorrow..I hope more people sign up. I really do.

As the blond approached the laboratory compound, he noticed a single other male already standing there. Someone else had gotten there before him, how interesting. He was happy that the other had a good sense of punctuality.

Observing the male, he noted several things about him - the first was that he seemed to have a 'ghostly' aura to him, most probably the effect of his pokemon. Just like other abilities such as intimidate giving the owner of the pokemon a 'powerful aura' that made weaker pokemon less likely to approach, the aura around this one seemed to be that of a ghost-type pokemon. Though, the aura was faint thus allowing the blond to assess that the pokemon was young. It made Soul wonder what kind of aura Pid gave to him....

Though he also noted something about himself. As he was observing the other, he got the incredible urge to battle. It was near uncontrollable but he had to refrain. If their battle was interrupted by the resident pokemon prof. it would be quite embarrassing for the both of them.

"Just a bit longer Pid, then we'll get into your first pokemon battle." He whispered softly to himself.

A crowd had started to gather around the gate now, waiting for the magical hour to start. A young child bumped into Tysons leg, which he quickly apologized for. [b]"Dont worry about it little gal. Today is a pretty exciting day to be out huh?"[/color] the small girl nodded and smiled, wrapping her hands around two of the bars and looking at the large facility at the end of the path.

Tyson looked around, observing the types of people who were becoming trainers in Volene. Perhaps they were all young, if that were the case then finding travelling companions would be difficult. Tyson was thinking of how awkward it would be to travel with younger trainers, but then he saw that there was an older person with silver-gray like hair. He quickly waved to him in an attempt to start conversation later.

"Awesome, someone else who looks my age. Maybe he and I could travel together.."

The Professors started to make their way down the dirt path. The elder looked to the younger and patted his shoulder. "So lad, are you ready to be welcomed into Volene as an official authority on Pokemon as well as hand out the starting pokemon to all the new trainers?"

The younger professor nodded, placing his hands into his pocket as a medallion swung back and forth in front of his chest. "Yes Professor Palm. Say, what starters are in Volene? I havent seen any studies or documents relating to them."

Professor Palm ran rubbed his thick white beard before answering. "Well thats the odd thing. Up until about twenty four years ago, Volene had a steady flow of its first trio of starters, much like how it is in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh. But soon they became rarer and rarer to find, even those who had chosen the grass, fire or water starter had hard times breeding enough of them to meet the demands of my research team. Eventually what we had left of those starting pokemon stopped helping us and ceased breeding."

"So they're officially extinct?"

"Not exactly. We found the pokemon to use as starters out in the wild, and I assume that they are out in the wild still. We've just been using various pokemom that have been starters in other regions."

The younger, brown haired professor nodded and soon they arrived at the gate. Several children were smiling and cheers were coming when both professors were in sight. Women in their late teens to late fourties were wooing over the new Professor but that didnt matter to the researcher; he was all about Pokemon.

"Welcome! The gates are opening so please stand back!" he shouted. The crowd obeyed and when the barred gates swun open, he motioned for all the new trainers to follow he and Professor Palm. "Please, let new trainers who havent been on a journey yet go to the front. Those of you who are more experienced and already have a pokemon to start your journey with will be addressed after the younger ones set out. Up to the lab!" the brown haired professor called out.

Professor Palm nodded, his white hair shaking as he did so. He walked alongside the young man and began to give the same speech he gave at each ceremony. "Welcome! Our world is very vast, and we share it with wonderful creatures that we call 'Pokemon'. There exists several hundred different species of Pokemon, with many still being discovered today!" the elder professor motioned to his left where a flock of Pidgey were eating. Many of the children soon became vocal about wanting to be the best trainer, wanting to become the best co-ordinator, wanting to be the best breeder. Hearing this brought a smile to both professor's faces.

Soon enough the group reached the lab, Professor Palm stepped forward. "Before we go in, I would like to congratulate our new professor to this region. After the ceremony today, I will be stepping down as Little Ray's leading authority and instead this bright young lad will be in charge. Come professor..why dont you introduce yourself?"

The younger man laughed, giving the group a warm smile which set off a chain of squeals from the women in the rear. "Alright Professor Palm. Thank you for your warm introduction. I am very honored to become Little Ray's new professor. My name is Professor Gary Oak, its a pleasure to meet you all today. Now, lets not hesitate any more! Time to find you all your very own Pokemon!" Professor Oak said, smiling at the young children in front of him. He and Professor Palm walked into the lab, which was decorated with banners and led the trainers to an area with several chairs neatly arranged in front of a wide table with three Pokeballs on them. The time was now, and soon everyone would be off on their journey.


"You older trainers who have done this before, stick around. There's something I want to talk to you all about.." Professor Oak said, not really directing it at anyone in specific..just the older trainers.

OOC: A mixture of both. Gary in the anime decided to become a Pokemon researcher like his gramps, but Im also taking the awesmoe super-cool dude trainer aspect from the games and the re-release of HeartGold/SoulSilver.
