Default Jashin no Seichi: Assassination (邪心の聖地)

Opening Note
I just want to state, first and foremost, that this isn't just my project. Jenny [Ashurene] and I have been working on this for a few years now, though it went a long period of time just sitting collecting dust. We decided to pick this back up, though, and thus... why I am presenting it now. This still needs quite a lot of work, but I had reached a blockade back when I had presented it on a forum all its own a couple years back. I will be posting some system things after this post soon. Also, if anyone needs clarification on anything [of course], please do ask. I won't pretend as though I am perfectly capable of presenting things in a clear manner. xD

As far as activity is concerned, I will be logging on regularly to check up on this, and update it as necessary since I know you guys are like... "But you've been kinda... NOT AROUND lately." >>; I have been, I just haven't been posting since I really have been busy. D'x Not to mention, it's not just me working on this; in my absence, you can always talk to Jenny.


RP Plotline
This role-play will take place in the far distant future, in a far away world named Garbha. This world had been torn apart by constant war that had finally declined some years ago. Yet the people are still heavily affected by it -- cities and towns are still fixing the damages, families ripped apart, the people have been living in a time of shaky peace for the last decade or so.

During this peace, a unified government slowly begins to rise -- the people are tired of war, and begin to create legislatures in order to prevent war from ever coming to rise again. However, under the rule of these legislatures, unidentified organizations slowly start to pop up taking out corrupted individuals and assassinating criminals. The people call them the Assassins, vigilantes that work in secret to rid the world of sin. The populace as a whole accept these Assassins, even praise and worship them.

However, with the rise of the world government, a new governor is elected to take position of world leader. This governor, once elected by the legislature, begins forming counter organizations to eliminate these Assassins. These organizations are named the Assassin-Hunters...

And, it is at this point that the role-play begins.


The Organizations: Overview

There will be a maximum of one Assassin organization - plus the Assassin group Jenny and I will be creating as GMs. The organizations are formed based on a common ability or skill - something which fits the organization in question uniquely. The organization leader will be able to create this unique ability and present it for approval. We, of course, reserve the right to approve or deny any presented organizations. The same applies to the Assassin-Hunter organizations. This comes to a total of two organizations in which you, the role-players, will be able to create, and a total of four all of you can choose to join. Depending on activity and number of people interested, there may be an increase of available options.

Each organization will have a maximum of six members, and a minimum of four. The purpose of these organizations is to be a small group of elites - a small team of people who specialize in assassination. Hence the names, "Assassin" and "Assassin-Hunter". You must be able to think and move like an assassin in order to kill one, no? If a group is too large, it would be too easy to track. But if it is too small... Well... then so much for being a group.

And, yes. This does mean you get to choose sides.


The Assassins

The Assassins are, basically, the side of 'good'. What is 'good'? A shade of gray. The goal of the Assassins is to eliminate the current world government. To locate, and assassinate the current governor, and reform the current legislature. The Assassins, I imagine, have varying political standpoints, but they all agree on one thing -- they do not like the current dictatorship.


The Assassin-Hunters

The Assassin-Hunters, on the other hand, are the side of 'evil'. And, what is 'evil'? Another shade of gray. The Assassin-Hunters generally are more militaristic in approach, and, in some way, support the current regime. They either support the world government wholeheartedly, or they believe that things can, and will, improve with time. Most importantly, they disagree with the Assassin's methods -- and believe that they, at all costs, should be stopped.

Do not look at these as black and white, for not all is as it seems. If nothing else, think this quote over:

In essence, I'd really like to see some really gritty, realistic characters. I've confidence in you guys.

Special Abilities System

Basics of the System
  • Must have at least 5 points in Special Abilities stat
  • When stat is at 5, you begin at Stage 1
  • When stat is at 15, you move up to Stage 2
  • When stat is at 35, you move up to Stage 3
  • When stat is at 50, you move up to Stage 4

Abilities can be customized to fit a certain character; however, before you can use customized abilities, they must be approved by the GMs and the Judges.


Poison Mixing
Description: This is the ability to mix and create poisons for use. You will not be able to use this ability directly in battle at first. However, as you progress, you will be able to apply the poisons you mix to your weapons (ie: create a poison blade/arrow/needle... etc.)

Psychokinesis
Description: This ability allows you to pick up and move different matter or halt moving things, manipulating them with your will as long as said items are within normal range of vision. As this ability levels up, you will be able to move heavier things and manipulate more items in sync.

Whisperer
Description: You have the natural ability to talk and communicate on a deep and intimate level with all living beings. Also, your senses are naturally in-tune with your surroundings, improving your instincts and allowing you to track your enemies -- or even allies -- with more ease as well as judge others' movements more accurately. Later you will develop a pact with animals, enabling you to call on them for assistance in a fight as well as keep one by your side as your Guardian.

Telepathy
Description: You have a natural empathy that goes beyond the average; you can sense others' emotions and sort through their thoughts. As this ability develops, you will be able to take hold of others' minds and control them by force, as well as shoot mental images from your own mind into theirs or even distort their own memories -- causing them to believe in something completely arbitrary and false.

Magic
Description: There are six different elements of Magic you can use. You can decide between that following things:
  • Fire
  • Water/Ice
  • Earth
  • Wind/Thunder
  • Black/Death Magic
  • White/Healing Magic
The higher your Special Ability stat is, the more elements you will be able to use (up to three different elements). You will also be able to combine your magic to your weapon to increase attack power.

Sensitive Mind
Description: There exists within you a dormant power. This power allows you to touch someone and create a mental link -- a connection -- with someone else. It also enables you to sense foreign presences within your mind and, once detected, you're able to place barriers around it. Your ability to create links to others' minds through physical touch also enable you to protect others from such mental attacks, using your own mind as a shield. As your abilities grow, you will be able to perform a counterattack to any telepathic assault.

Teleporting
Description: You have the ability to travel from one location to another. As you grow stronger, so does your range. You will also later on be able to teleport a small group (up to two others) as well. You will have to be careful, however. Especially when teleporting in forests or in unfamiliar territory. If you teleport yourself within a wall, object or other being, you will be stuck and your matter will begin to become one with whatever you have teleported into. Plus, whenever teleporting with multiple people, one cannot teleport without everyone landing on a solid surface.

Stats:
The Point System for JnSA isn't based on high numbers nor is it a Leveling System. We wanted to keep it simple. You know, KISS. Keep It Simple, Stupid.

The following stats are:

Strength: (Your strength. Affects damage)
Speed: (How fast you are. Affects dodge)
Stealth: (Your ability to hide and sneak attack.)
Endurance: (Your defense. Affects how much damage is taken and your Health)
Accuracy: (Your ability to hit your opponent. Affects your hit percentage)
Special Ability: (Deals with your Special Ability)


As a normal player, you will start with 50 points to distribute however you would like for stats. The points you distribute in the end should add up to 50 -- no more, no less. Like so:

-Example stats-
Strength: 9/50
Speed: 9/50
Stealth: 6/50
Endurance: 9/50
Accuracy: 9/50
Special Ability: 8/50


Creators of an Organization will start with 5 extra stat points. That means, they start then with 55 stat points to distribute, rather than the normal 50.

To gain more stat points, you have to fight. For each fight you win, there is the possibility for earning up to three stat points to distribute however you see fit. Fights will be judged by the assigned judge(s) of this RP using a judging system I am going to re-work from scratch. The focus will be more heavily based on the actual RP than stats, though stats do calculate three important things -- damage, accuracy, and health.

If your RP skills way outmatch your opponent, you have a chance of wiggling out of the fight without too many serious injuries. Also, you'll have a chance to win one stat point for a good fight. Good RP skills will always be rewarded, whether you win the fight or not, so don't worry too much about that.


Formula

Dodge vs Accuracy

(Speed/Accuracy)/2 = Acc %

Then, / roll 1d100 [or however this dice system works on here >>]

1 thru Accuracy % is a hit


Health

Health is based on endurance.
Base health is 100. For every point in endurance, you gain 10 extra points

so say you have 9 endurance, you'll have 190 health


Damage

(Str + Weapon Atk) Damage Mod = Net Damage

For every endurance point there is 1 def point

Net damage - def = damage dealt

That's the rough formula. I may decide to change it to weigh in weapon attack more, I may not. Damage will also depend on weapon class -- for guns, bow and arrow, and other projectile-class weapons, you replace Str with Acc.


Simple formulas. If anyone needs help sorting this out, feel free to ask questions.

I'm glad you're interested, Ryoku. :D I still feel like the different special abilities need to be balanced out more between the seven.

I like the idea of them all being somehow connected to one another. I had an idea at one point, but I can't recall and I've since lost all my files. I managed to gather all these from the forum, as well as some of the stuff Jenny had.

My question is... what are everyone's thoughts on the system? Cause... really, this was my first attempt at trying to create one.
I had a judging format already created, but it was so much like... Shay-Shay's >>;... I don't really wanna use it. I'd prefer to be a bit more creative than that. Going to work on that soon.

Also, for the judging, why not just make it reflect a % chance to hit/crit/dodge

I think the 10>15 is a bit uneven when you get down to it. So why not grade it like a paper, then /10 and give them that much chance extra to crit.

EXAMPLE

My Post is average so 74 grade

74/10 = 7.4 = 7.4%

So if I'm rolling 1d100 I'd add +7 to the roll to hit, crit or dodge.

But that's just my 2 cents.


Or maybe make it number based A=5 B=4 C=3 etc. Then just add that number to the roll for hit/crit/dodge or w/e.

So, as soon as the last system of it is posted up by lynny, we are good to start. first we will start off then with people who wanna make organisations. We have them limitted, dun forget that, but the ones who makes an organisation has to be active, keep that in mind, sure the others have to be active as well lol but the ones how create an organisation has to lead them somehow so ya, I think you all get the idea^^

Due to the relative inactivity of the forums, can we drop the group requirements a bit? Three sounds a bit more reasonable and though two sounds a bit low, it would increase the number of organizations if you don't want there to only be one or two player-created ones.

That being said here is my idea:

The Invisible Revolution

The Invisible Revolution is a group of Assassins that is shrouded in mystery. Some say that they have been around since the dawn of time itself, an invisible hand that has moved the world along through wars, using obscure morality to bring the world to where it is today as they've slowly begun to reveal themselves as the architects of history. Others hold a more rational belief of a newly formed group of Assassins with the ability to turn invisible, using it as all other Assassin groups: to overcome the centralization of government and thwart their iron grip on the people.

While the Invisible Revolution's lore could be anything, penultimately, what is known is that the group is capable of entering a state of invisibility. This has led to a blessing, yet a boon: Whenever an assassination takes place that nobody can pin, they believe it is the work of the Invisible Revolution, creating a guise of awe and fear in how far their reach extends. However, it also places them at greater risk, as everyone is constantly fearful of what may be lurking in their corners...

Imperceptible
Through the use of their unique abilities, the Assassins of the Invisible Revolution can become anything from invisible to completely incapable of being perceived. This power has made them legends in their own right, but with the increased scrutiny of their own targets, such a blessing may at times seem a bane.

hmm firdst off with the groups, you amy be right..so you eman for each Organization just three groups? hmm..lessee lynny and i have to do 2 I guess for each..not sure atm. means 2 organizations can get crated from you guys..didm I got that right?

and about the other thing, personally I think it's good, I like it honestly. It's good described and is really interesting to bring into play, so I would say it's a good idea..just let's hear if lynny thinks so too XD we have both say yes until we can taske something in =p but I doubt she would say no. =)

@Ryoku: As for the organizations...
Originally, we had it set up so that Jenny would make one Assassin Organization and I would make one Assassin-Hunter Organization... plus allow the making of two more each, leaving a total of six. But, I was considering everything... (and, now that I think about it, I don't think I explained this very well, if at all DD'x /shot)

Each organization needs between 4-6 members - no more, no less. The idea of the Organizations is to be small, elite groups... that would mean we'd have to have, at minimum, 12 participants excluding Jenny and I.

The limit on the organizations can, and will, change depending on how many people do end up participating... but before we open up for registration again, we'd prefer if all the Organizations are completely full first. Make sense?

I think it would have to be whole objects, not parts of the objects. Think more Star Wars in that respect.

Well, for that to bring into the storyline...I'll think of a way I guess..shouldn't be too hard. This idea is really good of Ryoku, so I wanna try bringing it in, it's just the overlal of the assasins..the basic of them I guess...so I'll think of a way^^

And Zegethys, no thats not really it, it has to be a whole thing, not parts, like Ryoku said.

With being assassins and stuff... <.< Would being a sniper work in this RP? Or..even being a sniper with Psychokinesis? It was never specifically detailed what speed we could throw stuff with Psychokinesis. The only limiting factor is the "normal vision" part. Could it be enhanced through technology or with binoculars? =3

For Whispers - Does that animal need to be a realistic animal as your guardian or can you pick mythology animals as well? (Unicorns, Phoenixes, Dragons, etc)

Well I mean, I could use a sniper rifle..and if Im out of Ammo, I could use my Psychokinesis to use like..a bag full of marbles that I bought at the store. lol Or I could do both, aim with my rifle and use the scope on it to see my target, and then fire a marble and a bullet. Lol

you have some ideas XD uh I'd say no =p thats a bit overpowered then. we could balance that, but not that way. You could have something with you you wanna move, just yeah dunno exactly.

Edit: or do you mean using the gun just normally and use the other things separately? Cause you can have a weapon of course
